Well I was about to purchase a sleeve for my 15.4 inch T61p with 9 cell battery from www.sfbags.com. Upon check-out the total come out to be $67.76!
The only option I chose was the extra flap for $15 more.
So is this sleeve worth paying $70 for?
If not what are some other good ones. I have searched this forum, seems like there are soooo many tho. Just can decide.

I recently received the Init sleeve. It's pretty good, fits nice, and was under $20, I'm sure. It is also available at Best Buy. It's not as fancy as waterfield, but it gets the job done. Plus I got a messenger, so i just throw the sleeve in there and I'm ready to go.
Hope this helps. -
The Waterfield case has VERY good protection, more so than Init or Incase sleeves. There is like 0.25-0.5" of padding on all sides of the case! I've bought three of these cases from them and they're definitely worth $70!
Just imagine your laptop is the test tubes in the review:

I just bought one of the Waterfield's for my Dell m1330 and I would HIGHLY recommend it! I got the piggyback option, flap, and shoulder strap.

I wanted to use a sleeve/backpack combo for quality protection and versatility. I am very happy with my sfbags purchase and would buy from them again. I am not a huge fan of the "ala carte charge for every option" form of checking out but the build quality is great and their service is awesome.
I made a thread about it back when I finished my order.

How do you like Your North Face Recon II back pack? Is there one that will fit a 15.4' notebook? -
I really like the Recon II but it is pretty much fitting the 14.1" snug. No way this would hold a larger laptop. They do make bigger packs though. It's very hard to size them up perfectly online, especially if you are doing a sleeve + laptop, so I ended up bringing my laptop into REI to size them up to be sure.

For people with notebook backpacks. Do you use a sleeve and a backpack? Or can you just simply just put your notebook in the backpack without a sleeve?
-
I use the the Wenger Synergy and i do not use a sleeve.

Most backpacks these days seem to have a laptop compartment because comps are so common for students and they want to keep their designs modern and competitive. The padding in backpacks can vary widely, even bags specifically made for laptop carry so you will need to check them out.
I tried a Jansport Firewire before I bought my North Face and the built in padding was great, it didn't need a sleeve. The padding in my North Face isnt really padding at all, more like an elastic pouch, so here an extra sleeve rocks. Once you start going up in laptop size the ability to double up a sleeve may go down, so perhaps you are best off getting a really thin cheaper sleeve and a backpack with some decent built in padding. -

Greetings:
Thank you. -
cheaper sleeve? possibly the zeroshock III
i just ordered one so i can't yet comment on it, but another member on the forums recommended it to me. -
I also ordered a Verticle WaterField sleeve because a good friend of mine has one for about 2 years now. She has been using it everyday and the thing still looks brand new! It offers great protection like any other sleeve, but they truly are in a class of their own when it comes to durability. You really get what you pay for.
Is WaterField Deisgns sleeves worth the price? Any cheaper similar sleeves for a T61p?
