I have ThinkVantage Power Manager set to "Maximum Battery Life" (a setting that came with the program) and with wi-fi on/bluetooth off. Right now I have 91% left and the estimation is that I only have 2:52 hours remaining. Isn't that a bit low for a 7-cell battery? My T61 is brand-spanking new so I still haven't done a battery run-down marathon, but is the ThinkVantage battery meter (NO, not the Vista one) a good measure for remaining battery life?

And right when I'm about to post this message, the meter now says I have 3:38 left. What the heck?

It probably takes a while for your battery to stabalize... Also your battery life depends on whether you have the integrated graphics or dedicated graphics. I have a T61 with the 6 cell battery and the Nvidia solution and it seems about correct to have 2:52hrs with 91% remaining.

    Cheers,
    Nick

Lenovo/IBM claims that their battery meter is the most accurate, I'll see if I can dig up the link to it...

I have noticed when the Hard drive is working at high capacities and I do a battery check my results are lower than when the laptop is idling. Do the checks at idle to get a good gauge to find out if something is amiss.
