I'll like to get your opinion on which LapTop Manu/Model is the best around Laptop so far with experience over number of years.
I've used Sony Vaio for 8 years, Dell Inspiron 2 years and I recently bought a T500.
The T500 have been excellent so far. It beats other LapTop I've used so far in term of Temp, Performance, Fan Noise and stud design.
In terms of eye catching design, Sony Vaio takes the lead IMHO.

It would depend on your goal(s), especially in light of what the same amount of money will get you at Best Buy or the like. The Dell E6500 I think is very good too and maybe offers better value.
-
Only if they improve the screen quality......
-
Personally between Dell business and the thinkpad series I dont think Ill be looking anywhere else for quite some time. Is it the best? In my eyes the two series above are the best, but then again thats subject to opinion and such.
-
If they also add HDMI port (only SL has it)...
-
Best is highly dependent on one's use.
I don't think it is fair to compare laptops from different generations among brands though... -
If you come to a Lenovo forum asking which notebook is best, youll likely get Lenovo as an answer. As for eye catching design, I owned a VAIO and my girlfriend loved how it looked. When I bought the ThinkPad, she immediately thought it was a lesser computer because it didnt look as flashygo figure, I like the ThinkPads simple black design better.
-
Girls are like that in my experience...
-
LOL, not my girl!
After seeing my X200s, she fell in love with Thinkpads. So, along with a job change and therefore a change in job contents, she is swapping her old white 12" iBook (yup, it's a G4 - 1.2GHz if I remember correctly) out for a nice Thinkpad T400, 2.53GHz with 4GB ram.
-
Can you expand a bit more on the 'job change' and 'job contents' part?
-
Well, we're both journalists. I work mainly with audio (radio, reporting and producing, editing etc.) even though I do a little video from time to time and take a photo for web from time to time, while my gf have worked mainly as a print journalist although she's made quite a lot of video for web recently as well as taking pictures to go with her articles for the papers she's been a part of. This has mostly been done on stationary computers.
Now she's going to work much more independently both employment wise as well as more out in the field and in general at various places plus at home. A big part of this new "scheme" is that she will be doing a lot of filming and editing, doing video work (think "promotion") for a smallish music company which tries to find new (music) talents.
I'm not sure that was what you were asking?
P.S. Her iBook hasn't been used for anything else than to write her articles on and do web research. -
Wow. Lucky you. She DEFINITELY sounds like a keeper
.
-
Yup. 9 years and counting
-
Good for you. And yeah that was the answer I was looking for in your prior post, thanks.
-
I'm a little sad about not being able to get a new keyboard. I can't stand the clicky noises that it makes while I type. Besides that I love the laptop.
-
You are lucky, sir. My wife has a macbook issued from her work and it has nothing but problems. Oh well maybe when the county school board comes to their senses they will issue PCs over macs that never work right.
-
ThinkPads usually have better keyboard, touchpad, trackpoint, soild build quality. But for some they couldn't stand the LCD panel, but for more I love my ThinkPad. I don't think it's the best or simply doesn't the best ever exist, but i've been using ThinkPad for quite some time some Ibms some Lenovos. They just won't let me down I guess.
-
Most school districts DO use windows. Issues usually arise when macs are an annoyance for the windows admins (who usually don't know that...much).
-
Yes, of course.
-
Yup.
If thinkpads aren't the best, then what are? -
Your girl is great. After read your post, i think she will get a X200, but i'm wrong
-
Haha, yup. Nothing like being outdone by your girlfriend on the technology front, lol
-
+1, along with speakers and offer Sata II/III speeds for SSD's. -
from my experience, thinkpads are nice laptops with crappy screens. Really wish they would be more like apple and sony when it comes with outsourcing their panels. And I would also like to see an option for a glossy screen.
Is ThinkPad the best around LapTop?
