Is ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock Compatible with T410?

The representative of a local Lenovo dealer is betting her life that ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock (39T4590, which she has on stock) is compatible with my T410. My research online doesn't confirm what she says, but it also doesn't explicitly deny it.

I suspect she's wrong because she's also telling me that ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (45N6681, which she doesn't have on stock) isn't compatible, but the compatibility of this one with T410 is explicitly stated on Lenovo.com.

I would like to believe that the model she has on stock works with my T410, but would appreciate confirmation.

 

The ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 is definitely compatible with your T410. The ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, however, is not.

The Mini Dock Series 3 is for the latest generation laptops, with the exception of the T400s.

Edit: found this on their support site. Maybe you could print this out and show it to the rep.

 

Thanks for your answer, giangdude, but like I said, the rep is betting her life that ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock is compatible with T410. And the page that you linked to doesn't explicitly say that it isn't.

I need confirmation from someone who knows this for sure because I'm gonna flame this rep if she's wrong because she was about to take my money and waste A LOT of my time (filling out purchase orders, waiting a couple of days, going to pickup item, etc).

 

I just emailed her the link that you posted. Let's say what she replies...

 

The dock connector is different on the T410 than it is on the T400. The Advanced Mini Dock physically can't fit on the T410. Here are some pictures for reference. The first is the T410 and the second is the T400.




Notice the difference? There's no way it'll fit.

The rep probably just got the docks mixed up in her head or something. She was probably thinking that the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 was compatible with the T410 and that the Advanced Mini Dock wasn't compatible, which is right.

The price she's quoting me is great (US$190), but with all of this BS she's pulling, I don't feel comfortable ordering from her, and another guy told me that the distributor is out of this item as well...

433810U is the correct part for the advanced mini dock. I sugguest going to lenovo.com/psref and downloading the current reference sheet for the thinkpad line. It is *very* useful in finding models and they have accessory pages that show every part that will go with the right model.

 

433810U is the correct part that the OP needs for T410, but the name for that part is NOT advanced mini dock. Its name is ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.
