I noticed other companies offer true "mobile" workstations but Lenovo doesn't.
e.g. EUROCOM Configuration
Is Lenovo just going to copy Apple instead?
The 2012 W530 could only have a K2000M as the best GPU. Shouldn't a true workstation have a faster GPU?
Edit: Shouldn't a ThinkPad look more like this

But even workstation-class units are now competing in the "thin & light" aspect which is an absolute nonsense in my book...so no, we are not going to see a ThinkPad with that type of a setup, ever...at least based on the direction that Lenovo has taken the ThinkPad range, especially over the last couple of generations... -
I don't know how many people need that kind of set up in a laptop. The W540 is good enough for most people. Lenovo is not going to dilute their brand with extreme workstation that only caters to a few people. Lenovo doesn't need 20 laptop lines.

I'd hazard a guess that the market for high-end workstation laptops is pretty small and in my experience most people with the need for extreme computing power usually opt for a powerful, upgradeable desktop with multiple monitors. Moreover, Lenovo is clearly not in that sort of niche market now and likely will never be since it appears to be focusing more on more general business/consumer lines. But never say never, I guess. Lenovo could surprise us (though at present the surprises seem to be odd twisty/yoga/faux-tablet stuff and "me-too" ultra-ultrabooks)

Whats are the specs for a laptop to be called a true mobile workstation?
-
A shame, because design-wise, W70* was one of Lenovo's best moments IMO.
-
W70x was originally created for digital marketing team of some large company i think it was either MS or IBM, then Lenovo decided to take the concept into actual volume production. From memory Lenovo had a breakeven with the W70x series, so they didn't make a loss or a profit.
Is Lenovo going to make a true mobile workstation?
