As the title suggest, is Intel Inf Chipset Driver required for Windows 7 64-Bit or not neccessary? I plan to install a 64-Bit Ultimate but noticed that the Intel Inf Chipset Driver is missing from the T400 download page.

chipset drivers are included with windows 7.   because of this, they aren't available in the thinkpad/ideapad driver matrices.

i'm told that the driver is being added to the various matrices on the US support site.   as of right now, the driver page linked (MIGR-73684) is down for maintenance.

Try again now. I just accessed it a few seconds ago. I have Win 7 64 bit dual boot installed on my X200 and installed the same chipset driver some days ago.

You can download them off intel's support site. Intel will add them to Microsoft's built-in drivers, but I find these versions are more compatibility oriented, and lack certain features. So you might be missing certain power saving features, etc.
