I'm in the process of selling my ThinkPad R61. It is only three months old, so nine months remain on the original standard warranty. I'm assuming that the basic one year warranty is transferrable to the new owner, as is the case with virtually all standard notebook warranties.

What about extended warranty coverage purchased from Lenovo? I have not yet purchased any additional coverage, but have the option to do so any time prior to the standard warranty expiration. If I were to purchase the 2-year Depot upgrade, could it be transferred to the new owner when I sell the system?

I haven't been able to find any information relating to the transferability of warranties on the Lenovo website. If it can be transferred, I'd like to offer the option of buying the upgrade to the person who ultimately purchases my ThinkPad.

    Thanks!

The warranty belongs to the system, not the owner.
