Seems like a pretty good deal right now. A few weeks back they had the X200 with a six or nine-cell in the outlet for less than $600, but who knows if or when they'll be back. If you do decide to get it you might want to pop for the six-cell battery.

thanks! what about the screen? I saw two options:
12.1 WXGA (1280x800), 3x3 UltraConnect II antenna
12.1 WXGA+ (1440x900) LED backlight with the Next Generation ThinkPad Roll
Cage, 3x3 UltraConnect ll antenna [add $135.00]
I don't need WXGA+ resolution but I prefer LED backlight. Is the first screen LED backlighted? -
No. Just the WXGA+.
-
I see. Thank you.

Text size will be small. The pixels per inch on a 12" WXGA+ LCD is 140. I think most people would say it's too small, but some do like it. If you like it, then it's probably worth it.
-
so then if you get the wxga+ screen you dont get wwan or a webcam altogether?
or is it you can only choose wwan or a webcam and not both -
X200s does not support WWAN no matter what screen you choose. And if you choose the LED-backlit screen, you cannot get a built-in webcam.
-
Ya, those are basically the main limitations (and obviously CPU). If you can live with that, the above price is pretty darn good.

CCFL also contain Mercury........
I think i want to pay a visit to the land of the stars and stripes...... $664 USD seems ridiculously low price for such a quality machine. I can't even get a X60s A1 condition second hand for that price...... Brand new X200s in Australia costs around 2000 dollars, which at the current exchange rate is 1600 USD.... -
That sort of price discrimination is why a lot of exchange students buy up a few laptops and bring them back home to sell .
-
One of my friend actually do this business in Australia, and lot of people in China also do this business, this is one reason in China that you need to provide passport to fix up your laptop if it is brought from overseas. I know a couple of people whom have become millionaire doing this business in China.

Yes, bypassing price discrimination is a wonderful thing . I do this sometimes with textbooks. Importing them from other english markets.
-
Importing books from Malaysia is actually the cheapest.... but you got to be careful as this is illegal in USA, while the laptop business is not....
Malaysia's book is around 14 to 30 AUD on average, in Australia the same book would be 80 to 150 dollars AUD. -
I am aware (of both your points).

Is $664 for x200s a good deal?
