Invalid Configuration Error???

Ordered T61 on 7/12 ESD: 07/31/07 (maybe next year?)

Well, I just called them this morning to B**** since the last time I called, they notified me that my order has been delayed till the first week of August citing the 15.4" WSXGA+ for the problem...Now they couldn't pull up my order noting that their system indicated "Invalid Configuration Error" (WTF???)

After 30 minutes of waiting on hold for a transfer to a sales Rep, he told me he wasn't able to help me (No Sh*t Sherlock) and said that someone will call me tomorrow to attempt to rectify the issue--he also noted that there were hundreds of orders that had the same issue. This is kinda weird considering they were able to check my order last week.

The only thing that's saving my sanity right now is the fact that I just received a black ipod video 30Gb and a Philips DCP850 (both which I will sell if anyone is interested )

yep, T61... though maybe I should have bought the T61p, but all I want is to have the darn thing shipped to me ASAP.

 

I also called Lenovo this morning and my order (for a T61p) had the same problem. The sale assistant and the sale rep said that due to the fact that the order is invalid, it will never go though. In order to fix the problem I was told that I should cancel my order and create a new one instead, with the same price and discounts that I had before.

 

This is DEFINITELYnot good, I was only told to wait for another day for some rep to contact me... I need the f***** by next week... you have got to be ****t*** me. well, A Dell it is then.

 

Just to clear out my previous post: The sale rep was the one who canceled my original order (dated 7/20) and placed a new one with the same price of the original order. The down side was that the ESD changed from 8/22 to 8/30.

Unfortunately, when you talk to different people you might get different answers. If I were you, I'd either call them again or wait for tomorrow to hear what they say. I wander if you get a different answer.

That's odd. Whenever I called to try and get a more realistic shipping date, they said that there was an error also. I talked to someone that said there was some error the weekend that the USPJULY72 coupon worked, and it was an error on all the orders. My ESD went from 8/23 to 8/29.

I don't think that they canceled my order, though. I did get a new email, but IIRC the order number from my original and the new email is the same. Are your order numbers the same nurio?

 

So without T5xxx processors, WHAT'S THE POINT OF AN R SERIES??? I just configured both a T61 and R61, and the R61 was $50 cheaper... woo hoo, right? I mean, it's also thicker and heavier, so I guess that's worth 50 bucks? So far my R61 order from yesterday noon hasn't been cancelled yet, we'll see

 

I definitely got a new order number, In matter of fact I can't pool up the old order information any more. Also at the time that I was told that my order was invalid, the online status page showed the order as in process...
From what I understood from the sale rep, the missing detail problem in the status page is a result of the issue. So, if under your order status page you only see "Configured System", you probably want to give them a call.

Alternatively, if this problem impacted more than just a "few" orders I would expect Lenovo get on top of it and fix the issue before customers start calling in... If that is the case then maybe that's why you just got an email.

When did you make the order? can you post your system spec?

Same thing happened to me. Whenever I called about the missing details, the page showed that my order was in process. Thats odd that you got a complete new order number, especially if the specs are the same. Looks like our builds are the same, except for processor and OS.

I think you're right (compensation anyone?) I think I'm going to demand a 50-cell battery.

On another note, I called today and a sales rep said he would "recite" the order for me and put it on a priority list (yes, that helps)... The "conservative shipping date" has changed from 7/31/08 and now to 08/30/07.

It is projected that the estimated shipping date will once again change to 02/07/08 to coincide with the Chinese lunar new year.

 

My detailed status page is gone too. However, I don't trust the CSR's at all so I think I'll wait until my 8/02 ESD before complaining. I am hoping this is just a glitch and the order will go through anyway. Lenovo seriously needs to hire better programmers and web developers.

 

So you guys think that people who are missing detail information in their order status page is having order problems?

The details on my order status page have been removed as well. Hope they don't delay my order. They should notify the customers if there are problems and not just let it sit until we notice something is wrong.

I have the same problem as the OP, new ship date 8/31.

 

Were you able to get any compensation xnviews? BTW, I hope the fatwallet thing and the tailormade will go through after they update/reorder for me... Can anyone verify if fatwallet and tailormade cashback would still work?

Also, did anyone here get any kind of compensation?
