Guess Lenovo scared off everyone with their $h!tty quality control.
For me, I am looking forward to see if they are gonna reuse that $h!tty pseudo 4k, mustard looking crap from Samsung.

This forum loves their Alienwares, lol. That section is BOOMING with posts all the time, haha.

Ya. I am not too thrilled with the new model. The 960m was already in the older versions and the only major difference seems to be the CPU which was already pretty strong.

I can't tell if I find the new body more attractive. I think it looks stronger from the pics, but the Y4/5/7 always looked strong but once you actually handle one you realize how cheap feeling they are. I did notice that the hinge changed, a lot of people hated the old one so good on them for that.

As for them offering AMD processors in the new models. I think that is a smart step. Some people absolutely love AMD CPU's and now people have that option. I am sure those are bound to be cheaper too, so again, another plus.

All in all though, the fact that the GPU is the same and they aren't at least offering a step up to a 970m (Which would be fairly easy) is the major let down. I don't thing FPS will go up much and there should be no reason for a 860m owner to get the new version.

The cooling system also seems far beefier on the y700 with a bigger intake grille on the bottom and the exhaust port isnt in the screen hinge like the y50 but rather on the back this time, which is far more effective! I'm a cooling junkie, must have temps below 85 so I'm kind of jealous of that laptop.
I would want the 14 inch version, smaller screen would mean a decent battery life, its far more portable and shouldn't overheat too much as lenovo's cooling systems are good. Too bad the y40 was underpowered :(

Good point about the cooling. It also seems that lenovo fixed the hinge on the new model too. I read that some people had issues with the old hinge, but I personally never had an issue. If lenovo can cram a GTX 70 or 80 series in their Y700 I may be enticed to upgrade from my Y70 but without a decent GPU upgrade, I can't see the point.
