    hi folks,

have you guys ever had this problem when internet explorer (7) hangs for 10 or sometimes up to 35 seconds when you first open it? as i previously saw 1 post regarding this problem (reasons: thinkvantage add-ons). i checked the I.E add-ons and did not find any thinkvantage add-ons in there. could it be something else?

this is not a big deal but it's quite annoying. i really need your help!

    :)

I had this happen to me when I disabled Password Manager for IE7. It turns out that I needed to completely remove ThinkVantage Client Security before IE7 was normal again.

    It's a networking issue.

    It's not a networking issue.

I know the answer to this. I too had the same problem before the XP clean install but I found the solution before the clean install:

Open up a blank IE page. Then click on the upper right gear icon (tools) and manage add-ons > disable or enable add-ons.

Disable all the unnecessary ones. It's been awhile since I did this but the culprit for slow IE startup is a ThinkPad add-on. Google each and every thirdparty add-on to find out what it does and if you need it or not.

IE should run much faster after this.

Edit: Disable this, CPwmIEBrowserHelper Object, Lenovo (United States) Inc.

It's the Lenovo Password manager browser add-on. I think it's part of the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution.

I still recommend you go through each third-party add-on and disable the ones you don't need. If it says it's from Microsoft, you should leave it alone. But the ones from Lenovo, messengers, and other programs, you should google them and decide whether to keep it or not.

EDIT: apparently two guys got in before I hit the post button. ^^ I hope my info is still OK.

Try it with firefox. Does it work with FF? If you don't want it to take up too much space, try the portable version: http://www.portableapps.com

If this doesn't help then post back and we can maybe see about possible networking issues.

IE6 does this for me at work quite alot and there's not really much I can do about it as I'm not the main admin :(

I have another solution which is takes a day to find out.
I guarantee this solution and very easy to solve.
    Just follow quotation below.
" Start - Run - Type : regedit - Go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer Delete everything in the Browser Helper Objects directory."

Anyway this is same idea as Arkit's one. If you are familiar to regedit, it will be easier.

Access Connections can hijack IE also, but what Arkit3kt said, will work.
