I just purchased an IBM ThinkPad R30 for
    use on the road.

I am having a real problem with finding
a cell phone store that can help me buy
a cable and advise of ISP to buy.

The current cell phone I have is what
they call a GAIT phone. This phone
insures coverage "all' over the states,
which need because I travel 'all' over.

They are now saying that I can not use
this cell phone to use on the laptop.

And no I don't think my laptop has IR.

P.S. Anyone out here know how I can
download a "users manual" for the
    thinkpad?

    Thanks,

I used my cell phone from Verizon Wireless to connect to the web. I bought a USB cable that hooked up to my phone at Radio Shack. I forgot the name of the company that made that cable because I havent used it in a couple months, but it worked great. It was USB powered, straight to the phone, I didnt have to pay anything service fees or such, just charged me my regular minutes and I had free nights and weekends. I think it depends on the company you have, AT&T or Tmobile, etc. The cable was like 35 or 40 bucks at Radio Shack. Check it out. It really works.
