I just got a T60 with XP. Happy so far. This question is probably not T60 specific, but I use an internet clean up software, which gets rid of cache and lets me delete cookies. It does not address one thing on this computer (though it did on my old one). When I am typing in, say, google (but other programs as well) it remembers search words I type in even after I have run the clean up program. I would like to turn this capacity off and erase the memory that is in there. Is there a way to do that? Thanks.

Two things. One the best free cleaner (and pay for that matter) is cc cleaner. Does an awesome job. Second is that in this cleaner there are different boxes you can check or uncheck. There is one for auto complete entries and that is what you are looking for. It will clean both your firefox and ie caches and also has a nice registry cleaner and is XP compatible.

In Firefox, use preferences, Privacy; Tools to clean up. In Safari, use preferences, Autofill; can't remember for certain (I don't use Safari anymore) but think cache, History and cookies are cleared individually.

Thanks for the feedback. I downloaded cc cleaner. Works better than my prior software, though some, but not all, autofill remain. Must be deeply imbedded. I use mostly ie. Any way to turn that off? Again, thanks for the help.

to do this, you do NOT need any software. as mentioned before, goto safari, and hit CTRL+SHIFT+DEL and it will clear your cookies and url history

Give Total Privacy ( http://www.totalprivacy.info) a try. In my humble (and biased) experience, it's one of the most complete privacy protection utilities around (and the raving reviews from editors and users seem to confirm it).

Notebookreview users have helped me a lot, so I'll be offering 10 free registration keys. Just PM me for a free key. No strings attached.

    Cheers,
    Steven

Sorry, diver, don't know what I was thinking posting about Safari . . .

Internet options ->AutoComplete->Settings. Check/Uncheck as required.
