I want to try making rescue and recovery CD/DVD's. Currently my T61 still has several serious problems to be fixed (e.g. pressing the function key will cause BSOD that says 'internal power error...', also system restore doesn't work for any date).

Will these problems affect the quality of the rescue & recovery media that I'll make? Should I wait till after the laptop has been repaired by IBM to make rescue and recovery CD/DVDs?

(During the process, is there a point when you must press the Fn function key? If so then I can't do it now since that will give BSOD immediately and reboot the system.)
