Well I've been perfectly happy with my T61p up until now. It was a solid machine, well built, and I treated it well.

Now I find out that it has a bad mobo (the graphics card issue since it won't even get a quarter way past PC-Doctor 5's video test that Lenovo provided), one of my keyboard's keys is stuck (it will get unstuck if i lift up the key and wiggle it a bit) and there sounds like a loose metal plate sliding around in my laptop when I gently rock it back and forth.

Any ideas as to what might be causing these problems? I can get it fixed really easy since my school does warranty repairs on Lenovo's so I don't mind sending it in when I get back to school, but I'd just like to know what I should be telling them to fix.

I would power it down instantly without moving and open it up and find out what that plate is. Semi-conductors do not tolerate shorts.

It sounds like your keyboard is bad and you may have a bad video adapter in which case, your planar is bad, at least I don't think they replace video chips although they may.

What went wrong you ask? Lenovo! I miss IBM. Well it's not really that bad. My X61s seems fine and my T60 rocked with Nvidia's X1400. It's when they went wide, the problems started.

They can't handle the junk in the trunk? :D

But on the definite side follow Renee's post to see at least what the rattling is and to maybe temp. fix it until you head back to school for them to work on your laptop.

can't open up my thinkpad without trying to break it. i'd rather not risk it. i think i'll just wait till i bring it back to school to have a technician check it out.
