Intellipoint disables Trackpoint driver on X61 (but not on my T61)

    Here's my situation:

I have an MS Wireless Bluetooth 8000 mouse, connected via the Thinkpad X61 BT radio. I'm using Windows XP.

On my brand new X61, I downloaded and installed the latest XP Microsoft Intellipoint driver. Upon rebooting, I lose most Trackpoint abilities. i.e - The Trackpoint loses the sensitivity setting and is slow, the middle button causes a program switcher to come up instead of scrolling, etc. There is no longer anywhere in the mouse Control Panel to tweak the Trackpoint settings. My X61 appears to have 3.55 XP Trackpoint driver installed. I have to do a system rollback to get my driver settings back.

Oddly enough, I use the same MS mouse on my T61 in combination with the Ultranav driver and there are no conflicts. I can use my MS Wireless 8000 mouse (side to side scrolling, acceleration, etc) and also still use and access my Trackpoint settings.

Has anyone had any luck mixing the IBM Trackpoint + MS Intellipoint drivers on the X61 with XP? Any pointers (no pun intended) or working driver revision combinations would be appreciated. I miss my horizontal scroll on my external MS mouse. :)

    Thanks!

P.S - Beyond the mouse issue, I'm LOVING my new X61!

I just got my X200 and a microsoft wireless notebook presenter mouse 8000 and I noticed this problem right away. I'm mostly troubled that after installing the intellipoint drivers I'm not able to tap the trackpoint and have it act like a click. Is there any way to resolve this problem without having to pick just one of the driver sets?

Did you try switching input method by pressing Fn + F8?

Go to control panel -> Mouse -> Hardware

select "PS/2 Trackpoint", properties, drivers, rollback driver.

The issue is that upon install of the new intellipoint, it sometimes overtakes the trackpoint driver with a microsoft made one, instead of keeping the lenovo driver.
