Hello,
whats the "Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache" option at the order page at levono.com ?
-
I think it's just like 1GB of flash memory to speed boot up times since Vista is so slow. Don't know if it works or not though.
-
It seems pretty useless from user feedbacks...your better off saving the money for a hdd or ram upgrade
-
Actually, there are two components to it. Readyboost and Readydrive. Readydrive assists with boot up, and readyboost is the everyday (superfetch) readyboost we're used to. The turbo memory seperates the 1 gig between readydrive and readyboost when both are enabled. 512 mb for each option, and can be disabled from the console. That being said I have readyboost disabled, and I am hoping that the full 1 gig is used for readydrive. Readyboost I have a 2 gig Sandisk extreme card III in. The readydrive feature is what I am interested in -- Intel has some work cut out for this technology, but it is cool. There have been some big claims made by Intel, but I am not certain of the proof. FWIW I have not had 1 BSOD due to it. You need to reboot several times to enable or disable the turbo memory features just as an FYI. Hope this help.

UMM!!! Readyboost (Vista only) is something from microsoft where as Turbo Memory (from santa rosa) is from intel.......................................

He is simply stating that Intel Turbo Memory aka Robson can be used/split between the ReadyBoost function and the ReadyDrive function. Yes, Intel Turbo Memory is the hardware from Intel, but to benefit from it (at least in theory) you can use it for ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive. -
Also, Turbo Memory is not "from Santa Rosa". Turbo Memory is a new technology/hardware feature first introduced and capable with the new Santa Rosa platform. However, it will carry over and be improved upon with the next chipset called the Montevina platform in 2008. At this time Turbo Memory (code name Robson 2) will most likely be a 2GB module.

Alright.....no need to pick on my words...... yes i know that...i meant its introduced with santa rosa....and yes i know about Robson 2
-
But there are a lots of pains in the butt that come with turbo memory. Not all of them are the fault of turbo memory, but not having turbo memory means not being hassled by them. -
Love turbo memory, makes system perform a fair bit better
-
-
if it doesn;t make the computer boot faster or faster usage why they are selling it anyway ?
-
i wish i can get it enabled from the console with the new drivers... i managed after a lot of reboots to get it enabled on the old drivers, but these new ones are stubborn and wont let me enable
