I have read the posts about the Intel turbo memory but have one last quesion. I am planning on running XP and don't need this. However, if I were to later upgrade to Vista, does the turbo memory provide ANY advantage at this point.
I am buying a T60p and just trying to finalize the specs.

from what ive seen the turbo memory doesnt provide a preformance difference

If you're running 1 GB of RAM, the turbo memory will improve performance a bit. If you have 2 GB or more, however, I doubt you would ever even know you had it.

I have 3gb of ram and turbo memory. When i forst got my comp. I didn't install the turbo mem driver after a clean install, so I have a good view at how the comp feels with and without turbo memory.
I noticed with turbo memory, my comp consistently starts up 7-10s faster. Also, my most common used programs such as outlook, word, and firefox open up so quick, there is no introduction screen. I noticed at least a 3-5s introduction screen when first opening up the programs without turbo memory, so I think it def has an improvement -
Thanks. That's a huge difference.

I can't vouch for Vista without Turbo. But comparing my Vista machine with my wife's similarly spec'd XP machine, I'm very impressed with how fast programs load. 3 seconds to open Word. 4-5 to get Photoshop completely open, ready to edit. Firefox and Thunderbird open almost instantaneously. That plus the time- and battery-saving Sleep mode (much better than XP's Sleep, which devours battery life) is enough to redeem Vista for me.
