I'm about to order the T61
but i'm not sure which graphic card I reall need.
I do watch movies, work with Photoshop and sometimes flash.
I don't play any games and I would like to run Vista w/all the graphic features.
So what card do I really need ?
Does the Intel GMA X3100 is a real energy saver (as battery life is importent for me).
Thank you guys !

The X3100 should be able to handle the Aero features well enough.

Go for dedicated in this case. Its a minimal price bump, and its a nice card in case new requirements come around for games, OS, etc.

dedicated = NVIDIA ???
As you said, the price bump is 'tiny', but do I really need it? -

As you said, you don't play games and you want the battery life. It would be foolish to include the card to your purchase. The X3100 can already handle Aero, you will be fine. -

Depends on what you use it for. Keep in mind the NVidia card is not for gaming (Quadro is meant for rendering etc). I would imagine it also sucks battery. The more powerful chips will trade off with battery life. If you do design stuff, then you might want to go with NVidia. If you are looking for battery life and general purpose computing, go with Intel.

Don't they offer an ATI dedicated solution? I would prefer that. Anything dedicated is better than Intel's Integrated crap.
Intel or Nvidia ?
