So wake up this morning, some Security Update for C++ 2008 is installed along with two definition updates for MSE. Now my Intel driver is crashing non stop. If I switch over to discrete graphics everything is fine.

Anyone else experience this after the update?

I'm on a T400 btw. Specs in sig.

Outside of a Windows Defender update this morning, I didn’t see such updates being available for me/all is well.

I'm gonna try uninstalling MSE and see if thats the cause of it.

I tried System restore but none of those updates are removable so the only thing i can do is uninstall MSE.

well that didnt work. i'm gonna continue to use my ATI card for now.

i really hope my integrated isnt fried. it gives me a message that the driver has stopped working but i'm unsure whether that means its a problem with the driver or the hardware.

    anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?

this had to have been caused by these windows updates unless my integrated is fried because everything was working fine yesterday. it doesnt seem like i can uninstall the C++ update either...

Might be the ATI driver you just installed—don’t know if it’s sanctioned for use with the integrated Intel driver.

nah that ati driver was installed after i switched to discrete only; after i began having the problems.

anyway, i'm back to integrated only and i think the issue has been resolved. i noticed my iphone wasnt charging from the same power outlet so i moved it elsewhere. i also plugged the T400 into another outlet and now integrated is working.

so i'm guessing something is wrong with that outlet... dunno why but i'm glad my T400 isnt broken.

lastly, i'm still confused why i got some C++ update and you didnt. unless you dont have that installed at all, i dont get why the update didnt get pushed to you as well.
