    Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing an Intel 6250 Wimax card and installing it in the half size mini pci express slot in my X301.

To ensure compatibility I'm looking at buying the Lenovo FRU 60Y3195.

Will this card work in a X301 or will it throw a 1802 BIOS whitelist error ?

    Thanks

this card won't work, since it won't be whitelisted in the X301 bios.

Some on NBR have said that it's possible to upgrade the network card, but the Lenovo technician I talked to at the depot said that it wasn't possible. I think you should call up Lenovo first.

You can upgrade certain wireless card that was already an option. The only way to upgrade to this card, would be to get a modified bios with no whitelist, not sure whether there is one available for the X301?

Didn't fully read the thread surrounding this... so you might want to verify for yourself, but a good place to look for whitelist-modded BIOS's is mydigitallife forums. LENOVO (IBM) Bioses, especially Thinkpad. - Page 226 should link to the appropriate post there..

You might want to check what type of fixed BIOS it is. Some of the BIOS's on that site only have partially unlocked BIOS's (eg, the most popular cards are whitelisted) whereas others have the whitelisting removed entirely. All of that solely depends upon the skill of the modder.

    Thanks for the responses.

There may be a chance it will work since I've got a UWB card in there at the moment and it isn't an official X301 option. I forget the FRU but it's from my old T61.

Zender has a modified BIOS for the X301 so that might be the way to go if the card isn't whitelisted and throws a 1802 error.

Just tried the 6250 in my X301 and it doesnt work.

Installing it in the half height slot throws a 1805 error, and it wont install using the full sized mini PCIe slot.

The link for a patched BIOS on the my digital life forums is down as well :(
