Was looking at the x200 and the option for 4gb turbo memory is available...
What do you guys think about this? Is it a worth while upgrade?
How does it compare to the 2gb turbo memory?

Is turbo memory essentially a small ssd that caches things that startup? SO with an x200 with a ssd turbo memory would be useless?

Also what kind of effect does turbo memory have on battery life?

There is an epic debate about if Turbo mem is even usefull. So if you have some extra cash lieing around you could go for it but I dont know how good the drivers are yet. Personally I just dont want to worry about the hassle of setting it up and another set of drivers to worry about.

I’m with Drummer on this. While it might be a nice to have, Intel has found out that the caching doesn’t work very well—so they’ve included software to “pin” applications/files to the “turbo” memory. While this will improve the speed at which these applications/files are accessed, I, personally, don’t care to manually manage yet another piece of software in order to improve access/load times of select items.

Can someone please post prices? If its a few dollars more get the turbo. However if it costs double or something then skip it.

Buy 4GB RAM instead. If you want Turbo Memory performance just buy an SDHC card and use Readyboost.

I would rather spend the money on RAM and a SDHC card (for ReadyBoost) than Turbo memory. When SSD becomes the norm, Turbo Memory will be useless.
