Hi there.
I have a T61 with Intel GPU and T7500.
For several months I've noticed that CPU temperature per core is 10 degree C difference. For example now its 57C and 46C, and it's pretty much the same all the time.. when CPU is not loaded too much.
Does anyone know about this problem? Is it possible at all? because I'm using Linux and maybe temp sensors are not displaying info correcly...although I;ve been using lm-sensors for a long time...
Is it time for thermal paste renewal? In last 2-3 months my T61 overheated(it froze during a gameplay) and wouldn't start, but after a while started fine. This happened twice.
Any advices are welcome.
Thank you in advance.

that depends on how the work load is applied to across the two CPU, so there maybe a temp difference if some program has affinity for CPU 0 rather CPU 1.
If it is overheating you should check whether the fan is working properly, whether it is filled with dusts.
You may try the thermal paste method if you don't have warranty left, if you do then just send it in for a new fan unit. -
If your system is out of warranty and you want to change the thermal paste then feel free to use my Thermal Paste guide as a reference, I did it for my T61 14.1" Widescreen model but the fundamentals are the same really - thread link.

Work load seems to be applied pretty uniform accross both cores. At least @ 10-15% CPU load...
No, it's out of warranty for 1.5 years already.
I'm cleaning my laptop about twice a year. Using compressed air and blow all the dust I can reach(with keyboard taken out). Also fan seems to be working fine, currently it's @ 3020RPM, however if I'll force it to spin at 3400RPMs it doesn't make any difference in temperature, which is strange... to me. Most of the time I bearly hear it.
For now I just wanted to make sure that phisically it's possible to have 10C degrees difference between CPU cores and it's not some kind of software reading glitch.
Intel T7500 - 2 cores, big temp difference
