What's the difference between these 2 processors? They both seem to have the same clock speed, the same amount of L2 cache.

SP9600 has a smaller die (22mm squared) and uses a ball grid array interface.

Thanks. Which one is the better processor? I notice the T400s uses the SP9600, but the regular T400 uses only either the P or the T processor.

The main differences are the physical size, the SP9600 being smaller and is soldered into the motherboard, so you can never upgrade it w/o replacing the entire motherboard. The P9500 is a socketed and can be replaced relatively easily, but will probably void the warranty. The underlying design is identical.

Thanks! That's good to know.

I thought SP had lower power, 25W? If so, than it generates less heat and results in battery life improvement. Also, in case of T400s, BGA package is the only way to go to make it thinner by eliminating height of the socket.
