Bought my Lenovo z580 with i7 3612qm and 635m a couple of days ago. Unfortunately I was not aware this laptop had Optimus on it.

I have set it in the Nvidia control panel to always use the Nvidia gpu over the integratred hd 4000 graphics whenever a game starts, and yet only the HD 4000 is used. I tried setting it for each game individually under the programs tab and nothing changes.

I am running on high performance with the latest nvidia drivers. If you have any kind of knowledge on this issue, please help find a solution!

I think in the nVidia control panel, there is an option to set the default, but I have those optimus stuff

Guys turns out it was a driver problem. I went on Windows update and I saw that in the optional downloads there were a couple that were Graphics related. Installed those and now it seems to be switching to my 635m while gaming :) pretty happy. I'll update if I have other problems.

However there is one more thing I want to know. How do you find out if you 635m is the 96 core (pipelines) version or the 144 core version?
