    Hi All,

I just recently bought a ThinkPad r61e and has a Intel GMA X3100, GM965, PC Card.

I know integrated cards aren't exactly good for gaming. But is this one?

I'm looking to play games such as Silkroad, Knight Online, Guildwars, and maybe Battlefield 2142?

The way i set up the notebook is

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)[1]
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic[12]
    Glossy 15.4" WXGA
Intel GMA X3100, GM965, PC Card
    2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)[8]
60 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm[4]
    CD-RW/DVD-ROM 24x/24x/24x/8x Max Combo Ultrabay Enhanced[5]
    Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG[10]
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery ( 2.4 Ah )[60]
    7649: 1Year Depot Warranty

    (if that helps any)

    Thanks

I don't know about most of those games, but I can tell you a few things...

BF2142 is almost guaranteed not to work. The Intel chips are not listed as supported, and that is for good reason. Intel has historically created the worst of the graphics chips and this is no exception. They're meant for business and low powered apps, not gaming...and that distinction is very clear when you ask the card to perform.

Again, I'm not sure...but Guildwars might work. That game is meant to compete with WOW, and WOW does an excellent job of scaling its graphics down so that any PC should be able to play it.

You can't upgrade the card either, but you might be able to get a game demo or borrow a copy from a friend for a night...I'd definitely recommend you try before you buy any game for that computer.

Also, most games that are 3-4 years old will work with the Intel cards. That is just a general rule of thumb, and there are exceptions. Intel has specific pages on their websites dedicated to tables stating what cards can play what games, and we have a X3100 gaming thread in the gaming forum on this site too. Many users there could help you out!
