    Hi thinking of buying a Lenovo idea pad Z580. But don't understand the Intel Core i7 speed (6M cache up to 3.1GHz) or same model (2.1GHz 6MB) what's the difference is one faster than the other? Any help very welcome

    When it says up to 3.1ghz that's Intel over boost function. Guess you can say it's builtin overclocking. Though IMO its more of a marketing ploy. They say up cause people like high clocks. Anytime my i7 gets loaded it reaches the max (overboost) clock. I guess it's so Intel makes more money. Who knows...
