Spoke to Lenovo and it seems like Wimax will be out sometime this month in all probability.

This leaves the last missing feature as Intel Anti Theft which is a hardware based solution. I gather it will be available in 4th quarter 2008 so I still have to wait for this, and I wonder if it will be an added fee option.

"As a provider of notebook security, Lenovo's next-generation ThinkPad notebook PCs, scheduled for release later this year, will include built-in security capabilities based on Intel Anti-Theft Technology."

I am assuming this will be available on the Lenovo T400?

Intel Anti Theft is completely different than Lojack. It shuts down data in the event the laptop is stolen. It is a very worthwhile feature to have and one worth waiting for. It is a hardware based solution. Disk encryption can be bypassed within minutes. Intel has chips onboard that handle the feature. It prevents the harddrive from booting up inside the machine or the hard drive from being used in alternative machines.

With Wimax Intel Wifi link 5350 and Intel Anti Theft, this becomes the laptop to have as all the features will be fully rounded out for a best of breed solution.

Release date is 4th quarter 2008. So anytime between October to December it should be out. Hopefully earlier rather than later.

LoJack hard drive wiper is software based not hardware so it has limitations. I want a hardware based solution.

It isn't like I have to wait long. I have to wait for Wimax as it is, so I'll get the notebook with Intel Anti Theft and Wimax as soon as its ready.

Right now it is 9/03/2008 and Wimax isn't even ready yet. My own guess is that Intel Anti Theft will be out around October or November.
