    Intel 945GM Video Card (Express Chipset Controller) ?

    i have recently ordered a thinkpad z61t and since this is my first laptop im a little confused about the graphics card setup.. the thinkpad contains a Intel 945GM Video Card (Express Chipset Controller) and i was wondering if anyone know what an equivalent graphics card might be.. i've only dealt with radeon and geforce graphics cards so i dont understand how good or bad this graphic card is.. tho im guessin it aint to great.. anyone know anything about this graphics card please comment any comment will help.. thanks for everyones help in advance!!! :)

    I do not think that you need to worry about the performance so much. It is well enough to even handle some older games with around 20-40 FPS even in 800x600 res! :)

    But I suppose that you did not buy this laptop only to play games with it?

    was required by my college... tryin to make the best of it so tryin to figure out how bad or well off i am with this graphics card

    You might want to read the GPU Guide, but you might wish you hadn't.

    Intel graphics cards are the weakest cards on the market, and the GMA (the graphics card found in the 945GM chipset) will only be able to handle games that are at least a few years old. Speaking from personal experience...you may have to turn down the graphics on some titles, but things like FarCry/Halo/NeverwinterNights/Oldblivion would work well...while newer games can and will choke.

    But for 'non-gaming' uses, that card is as good as any other out there...and it helps to get you a much better battery life (the original design goal was low powered solution for general applications).
