If you're thinking of buying an SSD soon, you might want to wait a month.

PC Perspective - Intel 510 series of SATA 6G SSD coming March 1st?

Hopefully we'll seen some intel SSD sales on the current models.

Yeah sure... the G3's were supposed to be out how long ago? I wouldn't believe this article either.

These aren't the G3's, they're G2.5 - based on the same controller as the G2 but added SATA/600 support and same 34nm NAND. They'll be out by then. Considering you can get a 120GB Sandforce drive now for <$200, the Intel is pretty expensive.

Oh I see. It's just I remember how the G2's were delayed a long time, now the G3, and then the Sandy Bridge recall. I kind of thought this was a spun story to help Intel save some face, just as those so-called AMD buy-out rumours.

You don't need to go through OCZ to buy Sandforce. There are plenty of alternatives from Corsair (Force series), Mushkin (Callisto series), G-Skill (Phoenix Pro series) etc.

But with Intel, I dunno. You can tell they are a much, much bigger company than all the Sandforce partners. Intel's Q&A, firmware support and after sales support is all pretty astonishing. They have the best ssd toolbox by a long way.

I don't know where the Sandforce partners are in relation to ssd toolboxes but I was of the impression that only OCZ has one (and its ugly and pretty horrible to use).
