I have an extra Intel 5300 module from a T400 that I would like to install in either a Thinkpad Edge or an Idea Pad U350. I'm wondering if it will work in these models? The compatible laptops according to the part list at the Lenovo web-site say it will only work on the T series Thinkpads. Could that be correct? Seems odd it would be like that.

    Thanks

Only one problem is "whitelist" in most of the Lenovo BIOS.

Yeah I ran into that issue before when I had a T61 and installed another LAN module in it. As I recall I downloaded a Bios tweak that a forum member called Zender created and that took care of it. Don't know if that will work for these models though.
