    I don't get it.

    On my Lenovo fresh W520

I get slightly better results with the default Win7 AHCI driver (didn't change anything since installation).

When I install the Intel Rapid Technology driver and console the results aren't any better and even a marginly worse.

So should I just uninstall the Intel driver?

Or maybe the benchmarks aren't telling the truth and thre are other benefits for which I should still keep the intel Rapid Technology driver ?

Intel RST offers no benefit that I am aware of for non-RAID systems.

Really no benefit for non raid ? I did'n know that.
So I guess I should probably go back to the default drivers.

On my laptop (not a W520), I get slightly better 4k threaded/queued writes with the Intel RST drivers.

What power profile did you do testing on?

I use the max peformance profile.

Anyway I ran the SSD Benchmark again and now the Intel RST driver gave a slightly better result.

I figure anyway these extremely slight variations in performance aren't noticeable, so I am not sure it's worth it to the RST drivers. Maybe there's some kind of overhead with these drivers over the default drivers, don't know.

I just read in the past week that the latest Intel RST drivers fixed an issue with hot swapping drives connected via eSATA. That might be a decent reason to use them if this is occurring with an external enclosure.
