    Hi guys,

Quick question for thinkpad gurus. I'm going through the process of ordering a new T61, and from the wireless option, it came up with the following:

    - ThinkPad 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II [add $17.50]
    - ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ [add $17.50]
    - ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter [add $42.00]
    - Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [add $21.00]
    - Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN [add $49.00]
    - Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (11n disabled) [add $21.00]

Does anyone know what is the "4965AGN 11n Disabled" option? Does that mean the 11n is permanently disabled? or just disabled in the bios?

Also, I heard mixed feelings about IBM versus the Intel chipsets. Has anyone done any actual tests? From all of the posts I've read, it sounds like people prefer the Thinkpad PCIe adapters because they are more cost effective (cheaper), and they are based on the Atheros chipset, which seems to be more compatible everywhere. Does anyone have other takes?

    Thanks!

I prefer the Intel 4965ag(n) since it's the coolest running chipset (by far) according to one review.
There was some talk about the disabled option. But I haven't seen any particular solution to this.

What is Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter parts number? I'd like to upgrade it from Intel 4965AGN, how can I do?

    thanks

I don't necessarily know if that is consider an upgrade versus the Intel 4965AGN. That's why I'm trying to figure out what's the opinion on the forums. I read in another message earlier that the Intel ABN card actually has a lower power consumption and better coverage versus the Thinkpad abgn card. I do know the older version of the Thinkpad (g) was definitely more superior than the Intel G, but I'm not sure if that is the case with the new 4965AGN.
