So I ordered a R61 back in early March, and it just started shipping a few days ago. However, after I was looking over the parts list another time, I noticed that the fingerprint reader wasn't part of the order:

42V8885 SBB ULTNAV(TRACPOINT TOUPAD), when it should supposedly look like this:

    42V8885 SBB ULTNAV(TRACPOINT TOUPAD) WFPR.

So should I expect a reader when I get my laptop, because the part numbers are the same? Or, if it doesn't come with it, would I be able to get Lenovo to send me a new palmrest with the fingerprint reader in it?

    Thanks guys! :)

This is tricky because actually you are saying you don't know what you ordered. It's pretty easy to overlook a feature when you are specifying a system.

If it's not on your system will lenovo send you a palm rest and fpr for free?
    I sort of doubt it.

Will you be able to get one? You can order through replacement parts. Their prices are highly variable and hard to predict but I would guess you could get new ones for $40 or less.

Please, note - what I just said is conjecture.

Oh well, I guess I'll call Lenovo tomorrow and see how much one of those would run me, since I can't find it on their website at all.

    Thank you Renee :)

Here's how to do that. Go through the hardware manual and identify a palmrest with fingerprint reader. Get the part number and their hardware department will give you a price IF you have the exact part number. They revolve around your having the number.

i'd be interested... I've done something embarassing to my machine and I'd love to know how much a nre palmrest assembly costs.
