I would like all my future Thinkpads to have Windows XP, so if they come with Vista, I'd like to buy an XP CD and replace Vista with XP. Are there instructions on this forum about how to do the uninstall Vista and install XP for Thinkpads? I appreciate any reference or help in this! :) Also if someone could, I need to know what to look for when buying online XP CD's that can be installed on more than one computers, preferrably unlimited times. Thanks! :D

Nonny and Arkit3kt, many thanks! The reference is very helpful, albeit a little overwhelming to me :D

Thought of another question: in the case when you don't have the CD of the OS, and if the pre-installed OS somehow crashed and you need to reinstall it, does Lenovo tech support help you when your warranty has run out?

You need only buy one CD, but you'll need a license for each machine.

They'll provide you with recovery discs, but it'll cost money. There are links out there to create your own discs to use with your license.

    Vista: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/08/windows-vista-free-direct-download-link/

When I bought my T400, there was an option for Windows XP recovery discs. No it was not the Vista plus XP downgrade option.

So basically I got a XP recovery disc and I had to burn the Vista recovery discs.
