Does anyone have experience on replacing the screen on the Ideapad Y510P? My friend stepped on her son's Y510P and now the screen shows only vertical and horizontal lines. An external monitor to the laptop works. I can get a replacement screen from Lenovo for around $190.. According to the user document, I have to disassemble almost the whole laptop to replace the screen. Is that necessary? I found a video on Youtube that disassembled a Y500 (I think). I believe it said I can just replace the screen without disassembling the whole laptop. All advices are appreciated. Thank you.

I think this is the video I watched. But, it disassembles the whole laptop before getting to the screen. I don't know if I have to do that if all I want is to replace the screen.

Send a PM to user "EmberV" (no quotes) he actually swapped the screen on his, he should be able to help you better than i can.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COMPATIBLE PANEL!!!!!

The 95% gamut 1080p panel from the W530 (which is arguably the best TN panel) WORKS in the Y510p. I don't know the exact model but it's made by AUO. You can find it for around 150$ ish.
