Okay . I just bought an ssd to replace the stock hdd thing is i can't get the windows 7 installer to start.
It would load files and then just stuck at a starting windows page. . . Had any of you guys met such an
issue before?
On side note: The same thing happened when i was trying to install windows 7 over windows 8 on the
stock hdd. and the same thing happens . It would just halt at Starting Windows screen. The disc would
stop moving and the windows icon will just keep shining.
The drive is correctly recognized and shows up on bios. .
Would it work if i installed windows 7 on another computer and slot in the ssd after installation?
Also would it be detrimental to the computer if the ssd size is slightly bigger. around 0.05%.
Have even tried using a usb install media. . . Sigh
-
I am about to freak out. . . Thinking it was because of bios or something on the thinkpad . I finally reach my own home.
Slot in the ssd into another old laptop and installed windows 7 on it. Removed the ssd slot into the thinkpad. And voila....
after pressing f12 and selecting the new ssd to boot. it just goes into boot menu again.... as if the ssd is not bootable. .
EDIT:Fails...... Sigh I think I will try to get a refund from strontium. . .
Could it be that the bios doesn't allow windows 7? I have bios 2.09. And the latest on the Lenovo website for
t430 is 2.05. . .
Please if anyone can help me. I welcome all advice. I cannot install windows 7. .. now that I installed windows 7
I can't boot up. .
Also have any of you had to use a lot of force to push in the hdd? the ssd is a 7mm but it displaced some of the
rubber housing. . -.- -
1. Your new SSD is fine.
2. You cannot install Windows 7 on the SSD using computer A and then boot from that SSD on computer B.
3. On your T430, get into BIOS at start-up and disable UEFI Secure Boot to avoid Windows 8 lock-in. Please try this. -
On side note . I think I figured out what is going wrong.
EDIT:Bootsect.exe command on windows 8 doesnt work with a windows 7 installation that is probably why my usb
installation media doesnt boot up. Doesnt explain windows 7 getting stuck at windows is starting screen
though. -
The SSD height (thickness) should be 7mm.
-
It isnt the height that is affecting it . . It's the width. . The rubber rails got caught and got pushed out. And now one side is like rubber band more
elastic. Haha
Okay does anybody knows why is windows 7 not booting up pr even installling on my laptop? Eithre on the ssd or the hdd...
Installs and boots fine on a close to 5 years old hp compaq presario... -
Someone else will probably chime in here regarding your specific issue, but I'll be installing a fresh copy of Win 7 Pro on a Samsung 830 this evening (everything I need finishes arriving today). My setup will be SSD in hard drive slot, new 500GB Lenevo spinner in caddy, and I'll be booting and installing from an external dvd reader.
-
Just get a sharp knife or small scissors and snip the small rubber covering that covers each screw and it will reduce the thickness enough to allow for a smooth insertion. -
Thanks flixster. Would it scratch anything inside?
Is your laptop on windows 8. Wish you better luck then I had..

I tried without screws and it really went in a little easier. Also i have finally finished downloading windows 8
.iso And VOILA it still doesnt want to boot . . . Imma go crazy -
Just a quick update: I used a Samsung 830, no problem fitting it in with the rubber rails either the caddy or the hdd area.
All done with my conversion and yes, things are a heck of a lot faster. -
Does yours have a slight curve design?
How did you install windows to the ssd? Did you buy yours with Windows 7 or 8?

I am wondering if I should try.
Cloning.
Creating a recovery media and then install through that
Or suggestions from you guys... -
While creating a recovery media. I found out what went wrong when using my USB to install Windows... I used the USB 3.0 ports
finally got my ssd inside and working. using the recovery drive I created per kaso's advice.

Would it hurt anything if I didn't do this.
What I did was omit the screw. Since the slot is tight. There is a 'housing' and rubber rails securing the drive to the housing
