So Lenovo sent me a Lenovo set of 3 recovery disks for Vista and my T61.

The trouble is....I have never used ANY Lenovo recovery disks and they did not come with instructions.

How do I boot them and run them?

    Renee-who is going out soon.

Put the first one in, boot from CD and recover?

EDIT: Why is this topic called 'The XP system could not connect to my internet' ?

You may need to go into the BIOS and make sure it's set to boot from the optical drive. Once that's done, just boot from the 1st disc and follow the recovery steps. Assuming you know what recovery will do, of course.

The XP I was installing was a standard ms system and was not compatible with the net and Lenovo hardware. Lenovo has sent me 3 vista backup and recovery disks and I've never used them before.

How do I run them to instal Vista?

Put the rescue and recovery disc in, and follow the prompts.

Well... I'm guessing they are the same as the recovery disks you make with the system (if not, very similar). Even if they weren't, I highly doubt that anything too outside of common sense will be needed. So, try this:

    1. Insert disk 1 (boot disk)
    2. Follow instructions
    3. When prompted, remove disk 1 and insert disk 2
    4. Follow more instructions
    5. When prompted, remove disk 2 and insert disk 3
    6. Follow even more instructions

go into your bios, select the cd drive as the first boot device.

then insert the 'Start Recovery' disc, this should boot into a recovery console, in it choose to do a full factory recovery.

Then the computer will prompt for the subsequent discs, it is pretty straight forward from then on.

Im running an XP system I've never seen before because it's the new one.. I put Disk 1 into the t61p and boot. Some things takes about 30 seconds to load and there is a think pad boot screen I've never seen before. Although disk #1 is in the drive, a windows come up and says to insert disk 1, although that's the one that's in the drive already. I can't seem to start that drive.

I know what an operating system restore does. As I said, I've never seen recovery disks run ever.

The first disk you put is really disc 0. Just keep feeding the next disk in order as it prompts.
