This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Installing fresh copy of XP on X61 Tablet

    So I'm trying to install Windows XP on an X61 Tablet as per the instructions here:

    But it refuses to boot up from my USB connected CD/DVD drive, giving me the message, "No valid operating system"

    Granted, I am using a cheap IDE to USB kit from ebay (see here), but I'm not sure if that's the issue. Can anyone point out what I may be overlooking?
