This may work for the modem and sound. You downloaded the drivers for the others?

I'm not quite sure that the "i" model has bluetooth. I couldn't tell whether or not mine did. XP was sure a pain to get running smoothly -- it took me several days to work out the kinks. Runs smooth now... :)

Yep, been there, done that. NOT easy, spent several days tweaking it to get it to run. Stable now...

I need help for XP on the R61i. Ive gotten the kb888111 and it now detects. But i dont have a driver for it. What do I do?

I dont also see any blue tooth. It seems this is a common problem here. Can anyone give specific instructions?

After installing kb888111, then update the drivers for sound and modem.

Does R61i come with Bluetooth built in? How do you activate it?

my r61i has bluetooth build it, i think it is standard on r61i.

I spent 3 days getting vista to run smoothly (only took like 6 reinstalls), it still has some tiny issues, but i woudln't think about going back to xp...

I have a new R61i that I want to overwrite with XP SP2. How did you manage the clean install of XP after first reporting you'd stumbled on that? What were the key steps? I turned on Program Compatibility but the installation still will not proceed. Might there be missing drivers (for the hard drive?) that are particular to this process? Those drives could be presented on a USB key during the install?

I have problems getting the Bluetooth to work on my R61i as well. Just to confirm that this is an issue. Called Lenovo support today, and they told me to send it in...

Don't know. Spent two days fine tuning it...

OK. I have just done this on a R61i after about 8 hours of trying to get bluetooth to work.

All the other drivers are fairly straight forward - the Intel Chipset driver pack is easy to miss on the Lenovo site though. For info, it is here:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67818

For the bluetooth, this is what I did:

    1. Install the driver for the wifi and ethernet NIC (with all the options selected)
    2. Install the ThinkVantage "Access Connections" software
    3. Start download of "Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows XP, 2000"

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-61425

    4. Wait for a long time while this ridiculously large file downloads
    5. Install it and log out and in when it asks

Suddenly, bluetooth icon is in tray and bluetooth places is on desktop. Hooray.

    6. You need to go into 'Access Connections' and turn on bluetooth.

    That's it. Phew.

Of course, I'm going to have to do it all again tomorrow, because I didn't install the AHCI driver before installing XP and now I have to do another clean install.

    Good luck.

On startup, press the ThinkVantage button to interrupt startup, then F1 to enter the BIOS.

Select Config, the the Serial ATA menu and change the setting from AHCI to Compatibility mode.

In the end, I installed the Intet AHCI driver without reinstalling windows. No problem at all. Just download the driver from the Lenovo site and run the installation.

Of course, I did this on a clean install, so in the worst case, I just had to format and reinstall XP. If you've got important data, you might want to back it up first.
