I recently got an X60s and try to install Windows XP via an external USB DVDRW. During setup to install XP the following message came up:
"Setup did no find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected
to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configurationis
correct. This may involve running a manufacturere-supplied diagnostic
or setup program.
setup cannot continue. TO quit setup, press F3"
I ran the HD Diagnostic from the BIOS and it reads and verify. So
what am I doing wrong? BTW, I was unable to find the hidden partition
when I hit F11 during bootup. Do I need a rescue and recovery disk
from Lenovo? I am kind of stuck now. Any idea?

You're in compatibility mode?

I had forgotten about the setting of SATA in the BIOS. -
We were all rookies at some point.
