I am upgrading my T61P 6460-66U to windows 7 for a second time. The first time I installed Windows 7 I found a download on Lenovo's website that had all the new drivers in one download but I didn't save the file and I can't find the file again on the website. Can anyone provide a link or know the name of what I am looking for?

OK I found it. Follow the link below and save the "ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 (10MB)"
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UPDATE.html

After its done downloading then run the program.
This will install the System Update and then ask you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer and log back into windows.
Go to the start menu and go to "ThinkVantage" and click on "SystemUpdate"
Then just click on the agreements and it will automatically detect your model type.
A list will come up and ask what you want installed (I select all of them) and it will then install all the drivers by itself.
Hope this helps other people that might find themselves in the same situation.

Yup, I downloaded System Update onto a flash drive and installed and ran it on my T500 at first bootup into Windows 7. Worked like a charm. Glad to hear it worked out for you! :)

SU works fine but if I recall correctly you will still need to do some manually as the drivers either didnt update leaving MSFT default recommendations or there was a problem. I think the TP display driver and BTooth was a headache but is really cool onece you get it thumping.

I agree with the System Update tool. It's very useful. I don't use the Windows 7 or Lenovo drivers for my nVidia display, though. Prefer to get them straight from nVidia or laptopvideo2go

I don't think I got anything for my t61 unless it was the terminal driver. Everything is in Windows 7.

cool, I did not know about this--I have downloaded the drivers separately on my HDD; does this tool fetch all the drivers including the power manager driver and power manager tool? And does it fetch the latest updated drivers?

The updater stopped working around 78% due to some Visual C++ issue and I had to restart and tried the updater again. now I get an "Application failed to start because a side-by-side comparison" error or something and another. I uninstalled all the drivers and reinstalling them several times but I still get the error message so screw it. I'm going to try this for the third time :mad2:

I saw this on the SU download site --"Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or later is required for ThinkVantage System Update to work properly."

May be that is the reason for giving you these errors.

I am now getting thinkvantage alerts telling me that I don't have 3 drivers installed. In device manager they are all listed under "Other Devices" and they are all called "Base System Device". The only other information I can get in properties is the Lacation. All say "PCIbus 21, device 0, function 3", "PCIbus 21, device 0, function 4" and "PCIbus 21, device 0, function 5". Anyone have any ideas?
