Hello,
I ordered a T510 and a 120GB SSD (OCZ Vertex 2). Now I am looking for any solid instruction about how to install the SSD and make it the OS disk in the system. I am going to put other software installs on this SSD too. Data will stay on the 500GB disk. Going to put the 500GB disk inside the CD/DVD bay.
All the best.

Which OS you plan to use on the SSD? Windows 7 have native TRIM support while Windows XP relies on the SSD firmware to do the garbage collection manually which is not as effective as TRIM. You may want to first check the firmware of your OCZ Vertex SSD to ensure its up to date. Check the BIOS to make sure the SATA mode is in AHCI as well (unless you're using XP - stick with Compatibility mode)
You can also have a look on OCZ's Wiki page as a guide on how to install Windows your system. -
Hearst555, thanks so much for your input. My OS is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.
Basically, I am looking for a step-by-step how-to for making a SSD a OS disk.
Thanks a lot! -
There's some info in this thread that might help:

dlai, thanks for your info. Will check it out.

Vista was made to be licensed to the processor. At the last minute they changed it, so you could change processors. I do not know what is true for Windows 7.

Renee, what did you mean by that? Thanks!

When you receive the SSD drive, install it into the primary drive bay. then use the factory disk set to install the OS and apps that came with the machine to the SSD. Done. -
Halobox, thanks so much for the EXTREMELY important tips!!!
All the best.
