I just put a formatted (NTFS) Samsung 830 SSD in my X230 tablet and am trying to install from the Lenovo restore discs.

I am presented with a choice to use GPT or MBR.

    Which is the best option?

Edit: Nevermind, during the factory install, the program created a recovery partition. I just went ahead and wiped the drive again and did a fresh clean install using Hearst's guide. I don't want my SSD gigs stolen by a useless recovery partition. I know I could delete it, but it feels better just doing a clean install and running system update.

Very good question. I will need to do this very soon, and I would like to know the answer.

If you are installing only one operating system just go with MBR. You will not get any benefits from GPT. I have done countless of installations and I always advice for MBR

The decision to install multiple operating systems usually comes later in the life of the laptop. You should always future-proof yourself when possible. I am using GPT and this is the first time using it with a Windows install and I've had no problems. I may attempt a Hackintosh in the future and it would be better having a GPT partition table.

I'm planning to go with GPT when installing Windows 8.
