I just received my T61p and it didn't come with any install media. I want to start from scratch with Windows XP. I called support and they said that they don't provide Windows CDs to anyone and that I should use the restore utilities on the hard drive.

Is there a way to get a Windows CD (DVD) from Lenovo? If not, how do you do an install from scratch?

    Thanks for any help.

You won't be able to get a Windows CD afaik but you can make your own recovery CDs by going to Start Menu > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Recovery Media.

Check out the sticky at the top of the forum for more information about making a clean install.

    Thanks, I'll try both options.

Do you know if these recovery CDs/DVDs allow you to install windows XP without all of the Lenovo stuff?

No. The Recovery Media will be exactly the way you turned on your computer for the first time.
