Ebay has a Sierra Wireless MC8775 for $40 that is branded HP. Can I do the install talked about in this forum with this unit? Any potential problems not being a Lenovo branded one?

Also, is GPS built in to this? I was looking to get a Globalsat bluetooth receiver for my laptop based Streets & Trips, but would pass if this also had GPS.

Finally, do you know what carrier's this unit works with if I can get it up and running? My choice would be verizon as they seem to have a daily use plan I might use.

    Thanks.

It will not work. Both HP and Lenovo whitelist their own WiFi cards, so you can only use Lenovo-branded cards on Thinkpads. On eBay, you will have to look for a WiFi card that has "Lenovo" in the description.
