    Is this possible?

I suspect I have a fault with my DVD drive on my T61p. It seems to have coincided with the time I last reinstalled Vista - so potentially it could be a software issue. I never really use my DVD drive, so I've not tried to fix it as of yet.

I'd like to try windows 7. Is there any way I can install without the DVD drive? Via external usb hd, network, or from the SD card slot?

    Any advice appreciated :)

You’re in luck. MS made certain you can install Windows 7 from a USB memory stick—and this is how I installed it. It took less than 13 minutes from start to a useable desktop.

Google the terms “install windows 7 usb” and you’ll get millions of hits on how to do this. The basic premise is you’ll need to format/prepare your USB stick in a special way, copy all the Windows 7 files from the original image/media to it and then boot your machine from the USB stick.
