I noticed that the always on USB on my T410 supplies more wattage when the laptop is turned off. Is there anyway to configure my laptop so that it always supplies a higher wattage, even when the computer is left on?

I found this out through charging my iPad. Apparently, you can't use and charge the iPad through a regular USB port on the t410 (the iPad screen must be off in order for it to charge because it uses too much wattage). But when I plug it into the always-on USB port while the computer is off, I can use the iPad and charge it at the same time. Is this something I have to configure in the BIOS or Windows?

the ipad charges through a 10 watt usb system from memory. I don't think the laptop can supply this much power in through the usb when it is on.

This must be programmed into the bios firmware.

Perhaps you could upgrade to a larger PSU brick. Get a 90w brick if you were issued a 65w (i.e. you had integrated graphics). If you already have a 90w brick you can try and source the one from the w500 (I believe 135w).

This may fix your problem and allow you to provide more power to USB with the system on. However, this will only be true if lead_org is wrong and there is not a hardcoded BIOS limitation (the answer to that is beyond my skill level).
