I have my power settings such that it will chime when the battery drops to 10% remaining. I heard the chime a moment ago, and before I plugged in the AC adapter, I noticed that the battery gauge showed 23%. Once I plugged it in, however, the gauge showed 6%. What's up with that?

System Update doesn't detect anything new related to battery/power. I guess I'll try out the battery reset option this weekend.
