    Hi,

I'm in big trouble ... I soaked my x230t keyboard and it's not working any more. Big problem: I fly to Europe Tuesday evening. So I can't order somewhere and hope it arrives on time.

Does anyone know where I could get a backlit x230t keyboard very fast? I.e., in stock on Monday or Tuesday and maybe even for a reasonable price (100$)

    Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't. (Unless you get very lucky and Weird Stuff or the like happen to have it.) However, would buying a USB keyboard (particularly a compact one without the numberpad) and taking it with you be too much of a hassle?

Also, what about letting the keyboard sit in rice?

Weird timing. I was just looking for a backlit keyboard for my X230i (tablet)...

I don't think these would arrive in time, but for $40-ish, they are priced well. Maybe ask the seller to overnight at your expense? Or USPS Express Mail?

Anyone know the difference between these? As in which is the better one to buy?

But yeah, an external keyboard is really your only option. Maybe a Logitech bluetooth one or something cheaper?

    Thanks. That's sad :(

No, the problem is that even the power button is defective :(
I can use it perfectly in my UltraBase.

Looks like someone is packing their UltraBase and an external keyboard :)

That, or depending on your ethical standpoint, "renting" a laptop from WalMart/Costco...(don't do this).

Hmm, looks like the power button is part of the keyboard piece. I'd definitely try the dry rice trick (hopefully this was just water), and if that fails, I don't know if there's anything else you can do. (Never turn it off so you can avoid the power button?)

Yes but I was happy to find out that the X230 *tablet* has a second power button on the screen :)

It was not water unfortunately and I think that's the problem with it. I tried to dry it but I think it's gone.

I ordered this now: Original IBM Backlit Keyboard T530 X230 W530 T430 04Y0639 0C02034 CS12L84 | eBay with One-day Shipping (USPS Priority Mail Express). According to description delivery will be on Tuesday.

Now I just do pray that it will arrive on Tuesday before 6pm!

    It must!!

Does anyone have experience with USPS Priority Mail Express? Does it ship within 24 hours, i.e. not later than 6pm on Tuesday?

Well, it's all dependent on the seller getting it out on Monday. If that happens, it will be delivered on Tuesday before 6pm most certainly.

Not to concern you, but I'd venture to guess the seller may not break his/her neck to ship ASAP on Monday. I'd email them with a plea for them to get it out in time due to your situation. Then you wait and hope.

Anyone have clarification on my question above? There seems to be various FRUs and part numbers, along with a wide variation in pricing. Are all the backlit keyboards about the same?

Thanks, I have done that already :) I also kindly asked if he could add my phone number in case anything goes wrong.
I think he should dispatch it tomorrow (hoping/praying ;-) ). According to the (non-eBay) homepage, he starts at 10am New York.
The fact that he even provides one-day shipping makes me think that he usually does fast dispatch (what's the point of one-day shipping if handling before takes 2 days ...)

Unfortunately not - from my side :(
As far as I know, many laptops (such as T530-T430-T430s-X230-X130e-W530, ...) share the same keyboard: Can you swap a non-backlit chiclet keyboard with a backlit version in your ThinkPad?
So I guess the different FRUs come from the different models but are equivalent.

As for the wide price ranges: What I have found is that some non-original from far-east are cheap (40$). On the other hand, cheaper original ones (including your links) are used/refurbished. I found no new and original one for less than 70$.
In the end, mine is refurbished now too although I wanted a new one (for a keyboard it's very critical) but now I am happy to get one at all ...

Thanks. I'm oddly intrigued about your situation and will check tomorrow to see if it was delivered...good luck!

I do agree, if the seller even offers overnight, you'd think that they are used to situations like this. His feedback is solid, so I'd guess you are good to go. Ironically, having him on the East coast works in your favor since he will hopefully ship it out just as your day is starting. Let us know!

Oh thanks. Quick update: I just received the info with "Your item was marked shipped", shipp"ed" on 10.03.14 and I got the tracking number already (though no entry at USPS yet). So I guess he made a pickup request and USPS will pick it up tomorrow before noon and the sellers job is done. Yay, doesn't look bad so far ...

YAAAAAAY!!!! Just arrived. I was called by the postman :) Assembled within 2 minutes, Laptop works again INCLUDING BACKLIT, takeoff to airport in 6 hours.

    So happy it worked out.

    Thanks for your support ...

PS: Should you need good service & recommendation: the dealer was "CLOSEOU DEALS" from New York. He said usually everything is shipped at 5pm everyday but due to my situation they brought it to the post office in the morning
